Her name, Ma`at, literally meant 'truth' in Egyptian. She was truth, order, balance and justice personified.
She was harmony.
She was what was right.
She was what things should be.
In essence, she brought order out of chaos.
In visual depictions and hieroglyphs, Ma`at was regally depicted with a scepter in one hand and an ankh in the other.
Many times she would have wings for arms or at least feathers on her arms to indicate flight throughout the universe.
On her head she wore a headdress with a huge ostrich feather attached to punctuate the aspect of truth in all things.
Ma`at's amulet is a stone platform or foundation, representing the stable base on which order is built.
From the inspiration of Ma`at, we take our commitment to solid process and adopt the foundation of her stone platform amulet as our logo.
At Ma`at.net we emulate the noble tenets inherent in Ma`at, both the goddess and the principles.
